From: Masters of Horror (short form horror film series on Showtime)
Synopsis: Harold has a perfect family save for the fact that they aren’t real. Harold, a serial killer, burns away all the flesh of his victims and then uses their clothing covered bones to build his family. After Celia and David move to the neighborhood, Harold wants to add Celia to his family.
Year/Country: 2006, USA
Subgenres: Dark Comedy, Serial Killer
Reason for watching/first impressions: I was looking for something short to watch and it was streaming on netflix.
Highlights: Moments with his family switching between what he was seeing and reality. Twist ending.
Lowlights: The ending after the twist is revealed gets a little weird and feels out of place with the rest of the film. The acting was a little spotty but who watches horror films for the acting? Most of the film was not very good if you really watch it with a serious eye but it’s really just a fun movie.
Rewatchabilty: There doesn’t seem to be anything to be gained from a 2nd viewing. However, it is short. I don’t think I’ll watch it again.
Overall review: For what it is, it’s pretty good. A short film that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
