Synopsis: Following the accidental release of chemicals from an old military experiment causing corpses to come back to life, medical store/funeral home employees as well as a group of punk teenagers have to fight off zombies for survival.
Year/Country: 1985, USA
Subgenres: Zombie, Cult Film, Camp/Comedy
Reason for watching/first impressions: Zombie <3 . Streaming on Netflix. Released a week before I was born!
Highlights:The awesome ’80s punk rock fashion (the hair was particularly fabulous). The puppets. The fake disclaimer. The ridiculous acting.
Lowlights:The zombies- I’m not generally a fan of fast moving, talking, intelligent zombies. Though part of me really loved the rotting torso talking about eating brains to make the pain of being dead go away.
Rewatchabilty: Definitely rewatchable. That being said there’s so many zombie movies out there (and in fact 4 more in this franchise alone) and there’s other zombie movies I love so much more (classic and remade Romero) that it’s unlikely.
Fun trivia: The Japanese release title was Battalion.
Overall review: As mentioned above, not a fan of this style of zombies however it was still a campy, fun movie.
